Work Packages

ColRobot is based on 8 Work Packages: four to develop the concept, two for the demonstration activities in automobile and aerospace industry, and two for the dissemination, exploitation, communication and management activities

 

WP1, Process specification and technology integration: Transversal WP focused on system integration, software and hardware, and laboratorial demonstration of the ColRobot concept. In the first task the consortium partners, especially the end-users, will define the functional specifications for the use cases and ColRobot robot technology. This will be the base for the definition of the different sub-systems to develop in WP2, WP3 and WP4. This WP also contemplates the integration of the different subsystems that compose ColRobot and laboratory demonstration of the concept (prototype).

WP2, Safety and standardization: The technology to develop in this WP will affect almost all the other technologies that compose ColRobot. A risk analysis for the demonstrative industrial scenario will be performed with the collaboration of the end-users. After setup all the safety components (software and hardware) it will be implemented the human and environment detection method, and the establishment of the dynamic safety areas. To conclude, the safety system enters in a testing phase and evaluation according to international standard ISO 10218-2 and the technical specification TS 15066. 

 

WP3, Human-robot interaction and collaboration: This WP will be focused on the intuitive interaction and collaboration between human and robot (mobile manipulator). Cognitive interaction will be achieved by means of human gestures and physical interaction by means of touch commands and programming by demonstration (PbD). A cognitive system will manage the process of segmentation and recognition (low-supervised). This WP will also be responsible for the development of the new interaction sensor for cognitive HRI/C based on IMU and EMG sensing (IE-MCS).  

WP4, Localization, navigation and grasping: This WP will deal with the accurate localization and navigation system for the mobile manipulator based on dynamic map representation for large periods of time and path planning. In addition, grasping technology for reliable and flexible picking will be developed in this WP. AKEO will manage the integration of different sensor technology (stereo, ToF and laser) to design and create a prototype for the smart picking system.

WP5, Demonstration in automobile industry: This demonstration WP is a key element for an Innovation Action project. It links the ColRobot concept with real-world application in automobile industry, i.e. proving its capabilities in the shop floor (pre-industrial environment). This WP will be coordinated by the end-user RNLT. Integration, testing and evaluation activities will be used as input to check the expected TRL 7.

WP6, Demonstration in aerospace industry: This demonstration WP is a key element for an Innovation Action project. It links the ColRobot concept with real-world application in aerospace industry, i.e. proving its capabilities in the shop floor (pre-industrial environment). It will benefit of the strong involvement and expertise of the end-user TAS-F. Integration, testing and evaluation activities will be used as input to check the expected TRL 7 and to define new application sub-domains in manufacturing.

WP7, Dissemination, exploitation and communication: This WP is related with the activities for dissemination and exploitation that are identified in the Plan for Dissemination and Exploitation. It also includes the development of the business plan, training and knowledge management activities.

WP8, Project management: Coordination activities related with the overall project management, legal, commercial and policy issues. This WP will also manage the technical and strategic issues like time management, competence and budget risks.
